The Personal Pillar

Building Future Catholic Leaders

St. Pius X School uses a systematic approach to develop the emotional, social, and spiritual aspects of each child. The Responsive Classroom is at the foundation. It helps create a safe, joyful, and engaging classroom environment, while driving discipline. Social and emotional well being is assessed using the Terrace Metrics assessment twice yearly. This identifies resiliency and risk trends in our students and school community. We also use the Virtue=Strength program to teach and practice virtues that promote a healthy mind, body, and spirit. These programs complement and reinforce one another. Parental common reads are also chosen to educate parents.

Virtue = Strength

Virtue = Strength is a structured curriculum to help form Catholic leaders and teach virtue.The program contains three pillars: Virtue, Catholic Identity, and Ceremony. Monthly virtues are taught, modeled, and affirmed throughout the year. Virtues are love and communication skills that help us build strong relationships with Christ and others.

This program has helped create a virtuous school community and is one of our differentials.

Community Service

Grounded in our understanding that we are made in the image and likeness of God to give and receive love, our students begin to understand their mission to serve. Grade levels choose different agencies to support through various service projects. Speakers from non-profit organizations come to share their experiences with the students. Our students understand the importance of becoming the hands and feet of Christ to the world.

Extracurriculars

Extracurriculars are helpful because they enable us to form the whole child. School clubs and teams boost students' educational experiences and social, emotional, and communication skills. Outside the classroom, students can learn leadership, cooperation, and social skills. Students learn how to balance extracurricular activities and their academic responsibilities.
