St. Pius X's 6th grade "Panther Pause", an enrichment elective group, organized a school-wide art and writing contest in honor of the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King. The contest theme was "Let Freedom Ring!". The students established the contest guidelines, promoted the contest through posters and morning announcements, set up the judging criteria, and evaluated all entries. On Friday, January 13th, the students presented a Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Program for the entire school. The program included speakers, video clips of Dr. King's speech, singing, and the presentation of the contest winners, including Dr. King Citizenship Awards that were given to several St. Pius X faculty and staff. The contest has allowed St. Pius X School to honor the enduring accomplishments of Dr. King and to acknowledge the gifts and talents that God has so generously bestowed upon our students.
