Technology and STEM
The purpose of St. Pius X School is to provide state of the art technology education for our students. In this ever changing digital world, students not only need to understand how to be productive, responsible citizens online, but they also need to have problem solving and critical thinking skills. Therefore, we developed a new STEM class. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. Students in kindergarten through eighth grade will attend this class on a weekly basis. Using the Chromebooks and other devices, they will learn basic computer skills, internet safety, coding, the design process used by engineers, and how to use Google sites. Beginning in the 2021-2022 school year, greater emphasis was placed on devlopment of a balanced use of technology. Students were exposed to the engineering design process through hands-on activities. Tech-Free Tuesday was implemented school-wide. Technology is a tool to enhance learning across curricula.
